One way to slow down the pace of our lives is to reconnect with nature. When we look at the sea, time seems to pause. When we draw it, time slows down even more. The process demands attention, patience, repetition. It stretches time, inviting us to really see.
There’s something curious in the contrast: a photo of the sea can be taken in a second, yet it might take a month to draw that same image in charcoal. In a world where we take thousands of photos every day—many of which are posted online and disappear within 24 hours—what does it mean to spend weeks working on a single image?
For me, it’s a quiet way to push back against a fast, consumer-driven lifestyle. I commit to the slow, detailed work of capturing the sea’s small, rhythmic movements. It’s not about perfection—it's about presence. About choosing to spend time, rather than let it slip away.
